Lifelong friends and wine enthusiasts, Jeff Ratliff and Bret Jackson grew up near each other farming and ranching in Southern Arizona. Early on, their careers took them both to Texas. Bret in the oil and gas industry and Jeff in the cotton seed industry. They both recognized the quality of wine that has developed over their years in Texas and decided to make career changes into the Texas wine industry with one goal in mind that they are absolutely committed to: create premium Texas wine from Texas’s finest grapes and winemakers.

The High Plains AVA is widely recognized as the premier region for quality grape production. With this in mind, they purchased Timmons Estate; a mature vineyard known for its excellent terroir, abundant water, and consistent high-quality production. Timmons Estate was originally established by Andy and Lauren Timmons. Andy is widely known for his expertise in vineyard management across Texas and still consults at Timmons Estate today. Timmons Estate proudly grows Tempranillo, Mourvedre, Tannat, Zinfandel, Picpoul Blanc, and Marsanne grapes. Incredible varietals on their own, and when combined, they produce magnificent blends! We also incorporate grapes that we aren’t producing from other High Plains AVA growers to ensure that we have everything necessary to produce what we hope you’ll love as we do.

Winemaking is an art form. The Hill Country is attracting fabulous winemakers that are taking winemaking to a new level in Texas. We sought out some of the most experienced and passionate winemakers in the region and we’re both proud and amazed at their production of both blends and varietals for FireSky. We work closely with them from pruning to harvest because premium wine begins and ends with premium grapes. It’s their art form that takes these premium grapes to perfection on the palate.
